MBOA in the Loop Event
Apr 17 2026 - Apr 17 2026
Goethe Institut, Yaounde
An information and demonstration event on AI, climate and health evidence in Cameroon.
About the Event
MBOA in the LOOP is a free public event hosted by eBASE Africa and iCODE Abakwa, bringing the DESTINY project to Cameroon for the first time.
DESTINY is an international initiative funded by the Wellcome Trust, building AI-powered tools that help people find, understand and use the best available evidence on climate and health. These tools are called DEST Robots, and they are now ready to be seen, tested and questioned by the people they are built to serve.
That is what this day is about.
Come and hear the stories of young Cameroonians who helped build these tools. See the tools working live. Test them yourself. Join a conversation about what AI can do for climate and health in Cameroon. Watch spoken word, music and drama that bring these themes to life. And tell us what you think because your feedback will directly shape how these tools continue to develop.
MBOA is a Cameroonian word from the Douala language. It means home, land, community. In the Loop means being part of what is happening, not standing outside it. Together they carry a simple message: this science belongs here, and everyone is welcome to use it.
What to Expect on the Day
- Doors open at 9.00 am Arrive, explore the exhibition, and connect with the team before the programme begins.
