Improving Teacher Professional Development in Mastery Learning through Pedagogic Audit and Feedback in Cameroon Primary Schools

Project Summary

This project aimed to strengthen teacher professional development and improve foundational literacy and numeracy outcomes in Cameroon’s primary schools through mastery learning, pedagogic audits, and continuous feedback.

The initiative addressed gaps in teacher training and instructional quality by building the capacity of pedagogic inspectors and teachers to apply mastery learning techniques and use formative assessment data to guide lesson planning and teaching practices. Key activities included developing a Mastery Learning module, training pedagogic supervisors, conducting baseline audits, and using regular feedback to support reflection and continuous improvement.

The project sought to promote sustainable improvements in teaching practices, strengthen teachers’ professional development, and help learners develop stronger foundational literacy and numeracy skills.
