Menstrual Hygiene Management in Schools – Trial

The Menstrual Hygiene Management (MHM) intervention in Cameroon aimed to improve school attendance, learning outcomes, and menstrual health practices among adolescent girls. The project combined improved toilet facilities, access to sanitary products and educational materials, school MHM clubs, teacher training, and community engagement across four regions: East, Far North, North West, and South West. Building on a pilot conducted in 2021–2022, the intervention was evaluated through a cluster-randomised controlled trial involving 80 schools to assess its impact on attendance, learning outcomes, and knowledge and attitudes towards menstrual hygiene.
