Project Info

eBASE has developed an app to help guide parents to allocate the correct portions of food to their children with the help of local foods and community health workers.

Project Background

Stunting is a nutritional condition in which children do not meet the right height for their age even though they may be having the right weight for their age.

In Cameroon, stunting rates are as high as 60% in some communities. This usually results from imbalanced diets. Meals tend to contain too much carbohydrate, although proteins may be sufficient, the body spends a lot of its resources on managing the carbohydrates that it is not able to build other vital building blocks for adequate and healthy growth. This affects height and brains of children below 5 years of age and can lead to reduced IQ.

eBASE has developed an app to help guide parents to allocate the correct portions of food to their children with the help of local foods and community health workers.
